Receiving Disaster Help From SBA - What You Need To Know
SBA disaster assistance, offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration, is a lifeline for those affected by disasters like the Maui wildfires. It provides low-interest disaster loans designed to help individuals, businesses, homeowners, and renters get back on their feet.
Home and Personal Property Disaster Loans
Apply by October 10, 2023.
Loan amounts of up to $500,000 for real estate and up to $100,000 for personal property. These loans are designed to assist homeowners and renters impacted by the disaster by helping to repair or replace disaster-damaged real estate and personal property, including vehicles.
Available to:
Homeowners who have sustained damage to their primary residence due to the disaster.
Renters who have faced displacement or losses and need assistance to replace personal property, including vehicles. Subject to verified uninsured disaster losses.
Business Physical Disaster Loans
Apply by October 10, 2023.
Loans of up to $2,000,000. Open to businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations, these loans provide support for repairing or replacing disaster-damaged property owned by the business. This includes real estate, inventories, supplies, machinery, and equipment.
Available to: Businesses of all sizes, including private nonprofit organizations like charities, churches, and private universities, can apply for assistance to repair or replace disaster-damaged property and address working capital needs. Subject to verified uninsured disaster losses.
Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL)
Apply by May 10, 2024.
EIDLs are working capital loans designed to assist small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations of all sizes. They help meet essential financial obligations during the disaster recovery period. EIDL loan amounts can go up to $2,000,000, subject to economic injury determined by SBA, less business interruption insurance and other recoveries, up to the administrative lending limit.
Deadlines for Application
Physical Damage:
The deadline for filing applications related to physical damage is October 10, 2023.
Economic Injury:
For economic injury applications, the deadline is May 10, 2024.

Mail-In Application:
Send your completed paper application to U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.
In-Person Assistance:
If you prefer personal guidance, visit any Disaster Recovery Center. SBA representatives are available to provide one-on-one support.
